H&M Home Edit Spring Tablescape pastel table settings plates, candlesticks, vases, napkins

Well reader, since our last Spring infused post it has been hurricane winds and snowstorms here in old London town. However, we are not giving up on the pastels just yet – Mother's Day is on Sunday and Easter is just around the corner, and while it may be grey outside, we can still brighten up the indoors with pretty tablescapes and sexy tableware.

H&M Home has long been our go-to for anything homeware quite frankly but workwise, their dinner and tableware accessories, in terms of high street stores, is (in our opinion) unrivalled. Inspired designs and qulaity, not only are they first with affordable versions of upcoming trends, but we also love their free to join member benefits including free deliveries and returns, and regular discounts and member prices.

Much like Oliver Bonas who featured in our last blog, H&M Home’s Spring drop doesn’t disappoint. It features vibrant colours and bold patterns, which we just adore. Tablecloths are my absolute guilty pleasure and are such a great way to set your table’s vibe without spending too much money. Invest in a neutral dinner set and a bright tablecloth will elevate your tableware immediately. This yellow and white striped cotton/linen blend tablecloth is perfect for this time of year. It looks and feels much more expensive than it's £18.99 price tag, and makes the perfect backdrop to a Spring tablescape.

We cannot get enough of this colour right now and would be torn between going with an all yellow table setting using these vivid Arket painted plates and these gorgeous, scalloped edge linen napkins, or going for a colour-clashing pastel aesthetic. These bright stoneware candlesticks work perfectly for this look. We would take one in each colour and fill them with these contrasting matt striped candlesticks in mixed hues. Whichever look you go for these dried Billy Balls (Craspedia) give both looks a gorgeous pop of colour and will last forever (yep, you now can buy flowers and plants from H&M Home). For a neutral look this large ceramic vase is perfect, however we’d opt for this stunning striped stoneware one instead. Whichever look you go for they both make the perfect setting for Mother’s Day lunch. At this time of year our afternoon tea is our biggest seller and it’s really easy to replicate at home. Simple cucumber sandwiches with the crust cut off, or a smoked Scottish salmon & cream cheese with a squeeze of lemon, some shop bought scones served with Roddas Cornish clotted cream and a wild strawberry Jam, plus some cakes – or a whole Victoria sponge, again shop bought if you are not a baker, but decorated with fresh flowers, and you’ll have a very happy mum.

We are always on the lookout for perfect platter plates and this large Vaisselle inspired porcelain serving dish is ideal for when you have a few friends over. We would cut some Wookey Hole Cheddar into triangles, add a whole brie, and a chunk of blue stilton – our favourite is Cropwell Bishop, add some Nocerella Olives and cornichons, plus some fresh figs, a jar of chilli jam, and some Peter’s Yard crackers. It will look great on a table set with these pink and red scallop-edged place mats (FYI which also come in yellow too) and this wavy glass candlestick which we have saved in our favourites. Add a vase of mixed pink and red flowers and you’ve got a gorgeous evening look without much effort at all.

Lastly, one look we are never over is 60’s and 70’s design and the high street is full of affordable retro designs. We especially love this sleek hexagon shaped green glass carafe, it's a real statement piece and makes a great gift, and these enamelled silver rimmed orange napkin rings. are just stunning.

The beauty of H&M Home is they tend to cover all décor styles – neutrals, luxe living, metals, earth tones, seventies – it is all there, and this blog could dedicate a H&M Home post to each of those trends. Instead, we’ve picked our selection of our current seasonal favourites. However, a word to the wise, be quick if anything takes your fancy, the one downside of H&M Home is that nothing hangs around too long so snap it up immediately or regret it forever.
